The Vice Chancellor, University of Agriculture Makurdi, Prof. Anande Richard Kimbir has expressed his administration's desire to create and maintain a conducive environment for teaching and learning. Prof. Kimbir made this known at the Resumption Mass for the 2017/2018 Academic Session held at the James Ayatse Hall, South Core of the University.
Speaking at the occasion, the Vice Chancellor formally welcomed both fresh and returning students to campus and pointed out that, their welfare in areas of accommodation and security on campus will not be compromised. He explained that the newly completed hostels will be put to use to address accommodation problems and more hands will be engaged to boost the security department of the University for the general welfare of all.
The Vice Chancellor however lamented lack and late payment of user charges by students and called on parents, guardians and students to imbibe the habit of prompt payment of charges as it affect the running of the University.
Delivering a sermon earlier, the Officiating Priest, Very Rev. Fr. Jude Ortese charged Christians to be united and cultivate the spirit of oneness as encapsulated in the teachings of Christ. Fr. Jude noted that, unity amongst Christians is a powerful witness to the truth of the gospel and must be held in high esteem.
On his part, the Chaplain, St. John Paul II Catholic Chaplaincy, Rev. Fr. Didacus Kajo also welcomed the students to campus and sued for decorum amongst them. The chaplain urged the students to be part of the church community so as to acquire good character which according to him is one of the pre-requisites for the award of certificates by the University.
