UAM FORMALLY RECEIVES TROPHIES WON BY STUDENTS IN INTELLECTUAL CONTESTS

THE UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE, MAKURDI FORMALLY RECIEVES TROPHIES WON BY STUDENTS IN INTELLECTUAL CONTESTS!!!

On Friday, 11th May 2018, Principal Officers of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Deans of Colleges, Directors, Representatives of the Students union amongst other invited guests convened at the incidence of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. A.R. Kimbir to witness the formal presentation of trophies won by students (Ahuah Msendoo Janet, Akpem Michael Ngutor, Moor Sheila Ngohide, Owuru Cedric Ire) of the University in National and State competitions.

The epoch making event was characterized by Speeches from the Competitors under the leadership of Akpem Michael Ngutor who narrated in detail their experiences as they represented the University at the All Nigerian Universities Debate and Public Speech Competition held in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, February 2016 and the Gov. Samuel Ortom Public Speech Contest for Tertiary institutions in Benue State, November 2016 where the University emerged as Gold winners respectively.

Prof. E.J. Ekefan (Dean, College of Agronomy) and Prof. Terhemen Aboiyar (Dean, Students Affairs) took turns to respond on behalf of the Deans of colleges and the Directorate of Students Affairs, they in unison applauded the competitors for making the University proud through their outstanding representation and urged them and other Students to always strive for success and be devoted to using their University education in proffering solutions to everyday societal challenges.

Receiving the trophies on behalf of the University, the Vice Chancellor expressed unreserved gratitude to God and the representatives of the institution for the honours they had won for the University. He iterated the devotion of his administration to reward hard work and improve on conditions for competitors in future competitions to ensure that the flag of the institution is kept flying high.

The all important ceremony came to a close with the official handover of the trophies to the Vice Chancellor in company of Principal Officers of the University and the keen admiration of other guests present.

The recent wave of successes which the University of Agriculture, Makurdi has witnessed in the aforementioned competitions has raised the Institution’s profile amongst its contemporaries across Nigeria and beyond as an institution whose students can compete favourably across the globe in all fields of study.
