The annual national convention of the Nigerian Association of Agricultural Students (NAAS) held in the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-ife, Osun State between Thursday 16th August 2018 and Friday 17th August 2018.
The University of Agriculture, Makurdi chapter of the Association (NAAS) was also represented at the 2017/2018 convention by a delegation made up of the President, Comr. Iorpuu John Achoda and Rt. Comr. Daniel Haruna.
The epoch making event attended by 21 University chapters, University Lecturers, Representatives of NAFDAC amongst other dignitories was characterized by lectures delivered on various aspects of Crop and Animal production by Guest Speakers as well as elections into various portfolios at the National level of NAAS.
The President, Comr. Iorpuu John Achoda emerged as the Clerk to the NAAS legislative arm amongst other representatives across the six geopolitical zones who were elected to occupy various positions.
The 2017/2018 NAAS convention came to a close with the presentation of certificates of participation and merit to members who had distinguished themselves in the service of the Agricultural Association's apex body.
Following the successful conduct of the 2018 NAAS convention, Agricultural Students in member Universities are hopeful that their delegates will bring the knowledge harnessed from the convention to bear on the leadership of their respective chapters towards ensuring food security and national development in Nigeria.
