The Students Union Electoral Panel (SUEP) UAM has held three (3) sessions following Saturday's Cabinet elections considering petitions written challenging the result for the Presidential election which was keenly contested by Comr. Apeaii Frank and Comr. Dajoh Jacob.
After series of proceedings which included testimonies from Electoral Officials, Observers amongst other standard procedures used by the panel towards pronouncing a verdict that upholds the integrity of the Union's electoral process and dispenses justice to the issues raised in the petitions, the Rt. Comr. Gumji Lawrence led SUEP has mandated The Students Union Electoral Committee (SUEC) to reconduct Presidential polls across all polling units to decide who becomes the next Pilot of the Student's Union on or before Friday, 10th August 2018.
Following the electoral panel's pronouncement, SUEC are to begin immediate preparations for a rerun of the Presidential polls and communicate all proceedings to Makurdians who anticipated for over 72 hours a verdict from the Students Union Electoral Panel on the fate of her 2018 Students Union Elections.
All results declared from the cabinet polls with exception of the office of "President of the Students Union" have been upheld by this verdict and the winners reaffirmed. They however await inauguration when the result of the Presidential rerun is determined by SUEC as directed by the panel.
Speaking to Makurdians after the declaration, many have applauded the decision of the electoral panel, defining it as independent, free, fair and just. They are optimistic that SUEC will learn from the experience of Saturday's polls and strategize efficiently towards a hitch free Presidential rerun.
