Members of the National Association of Agricultural Students (NAAS) we're today led by their President, Comr. Iorpuu John to Oracle Farms on an excursion organised by the leadership of NAAS.
The excursion which was attended by over one hundred (100) students of B. Agric extraction in the University Of Agriculture, Makurdi was aimed at exposing members of NAAS to the practical application of the knowledge they have learnt in class to Agricultural production.
The visit to the Makurdi centre of one of West Africa's largest farms (Oracle farms) provided the Students access to a wide variety of Animal and Crop production techniques practiced globally to ensure food security.
Farm instructors under the leadership of the respective unit Managers toured the students round the entire facility explaining in detail, how each unit functions and techniques used in the production of food crops such as rice, mushroom as well as Animals such as rabbits, grass cutters, cattle, swine, sheep amongst other aspects of the farm production cycle such as the Water treatment, feed production and fish farming.
The excursion which is the first of its kind in the history of NAAS, UAM largely achieved the objective of exposing students to the needed practical aspects of class room based knowledge.
Naasites who spoke with Campus gist 'paper affirmed their indebtedness to the Comr. Iorpuu John led leadership for the opportunity to embark on the excursion to Oracle farms. They also reaffirmed their support for his administration emphasizing their confidence in his devotion to move NAAS, UAM forward.
As beneficiaries of the NAAS excursion To Oracle farms, Makurdi centre still bask in the euphoria of the experience, many are still hopeful that more opportunities will avail themselves for outings like this to enhance the Agricultural Students' appreciation of the study of the profession and expose them to the immense opportunities in the sector.
